Backyard Golf Simulator Turf Install in Tustin, CA

A backyard golf simulator is a serious upgrade. It’s also one of the more interesting turf projects we take on. This one in Tustin, California came with a custom raised platform, an angled layout, and a high bar for how the finished space should look and play.

Turf on a Hardscape Platform

Most of our work goes over a prepared soil base. This one went over metal, so the process was different. The turf is glued down rather than anchored into the ground, which means the surface and the perimeter both have to be right before any grass goes down. Our crew started with the edge, setting the border along the platform’s perimeter so the turf would have a clean, fixed line to fit against.

The Turf and Putting Green

Continuous artificial turf and putting green across the golf simulator platform

With the perimeter set, we installed the turf across the full platform, along with the putting green. The result is a continuous, natural-looking surface that wraps the hitting area and carries the whole space visually, instead of a patchwork of mats and carpet. For a simulator, that consistency matters as much as the playing surface does.

A Border That Finishes the Job

Artificial turf meeting the platform edge with a clean transition to the patio

We used brown Low Profile WonderEdge to frame the platform. It glues directly to the deck and tucks the turf backing into a slim channel, which gives a crisp, flush edge with no raw turf edges and no lifting at the corners. At just 3/8” tall, it stays out of the way for players walking and swinging near the perimeter.

What Made This Install Work

  • Planning the edge first. Setting the border before the turf gave the crew a precise line to work to.
  • One continuous surface. Turf and putting green share the same platform and the same finished look.
  • The right edge for the surface. Low Profile WonderEdge handles hardscape where a staked edge can’t.

Thinking about a golf simulator or putting green of your own? Whether you’re building on a platform, a patio or a prepared yard, NoMow Turf designs and installs synthetic lawns and putting greens to fit the space. Let’s talk through your project.
